WireGuard and Kill Switch Now Available In Guardian Firewall + VPN for Windows

We are happy to announce that two long-awaited features for Guardian Firewall for Windows are here: WireGuard transport protocol support and a network kill switch.

When we launched the public beta of Guardian Firewall + VPN for Windows last year, we were clear that this was just the beginning.

IKEv2 gave us a solid, native foundation to build on, but as mentioned, WireGuard has always been part of the plan. It is faster, more efficient, and generally the best overall choice when it comes to speed and security. We are excited to now offer it as a supported transport protocol option on Windows alongside IKEv2.

With WireGuard, the latest app update also features the network kill switch functionality for Windows. As we covered in a recent post on DNS leaks and kill switch protection, a kill switch is an essential safeguard.

If your VPN connection drops for even a moment, the kill switch immediately blocks all outgoing traffic, preventing your real IP address or DNS requests from slipping out unprotected onto a public network. Once the tunnel is restored, everything picks right back up where it left off.

Together, these two additions bring Guardian for Windows significantly closer to feature parity with our iOS, macOS, and Android apps, and they reflect what we have always believed: ‘Privacy First’

Both features are available now in version 40.43. If you are already running Guardian Firewall on Windows, simply update to release 40.43 to get access. If you do not yet have Guardian on Windows, you can download it below:
