While it has been a long time in the works, our team is really excited to announce that Guardian Firewall for Windows is here! Our team has embarked on the adventure to fully support Windows and the time has finally come for us to publicly announce that we have started a public beta test phase for our native Windows app!

This project started a few years ago during our partnership with Brave in order to offer the Firewall + VPN service to their Windows desktop customers as well. Windows has been shipping with a decent built-in IKEv2 daemon for many years at this point, and we’re very happy to be able to leverage it in the first iteration of our desktop application as well. This is just the beginning with many more features already in the pipeline.
Our app is built entirely of a combination of native Windows technologies in order to be as compatible with the platform variations, even with the new group of ARM based Copilot+ PCs. Leaning into native-to-the-platform technologies has been a tried and true strategy for our team and given our past experience, no other path would have been acceptable to us in order to deliver a product to our customers that acts as seamless as it does on iOS, macOS, Android or FireOS.
The learning curve for our team has been incredibly steep but thanks to Tim joining our team, a dedicated Windows developer with decades of experience, we have been able to put an application together that while not yet completely finished, is something that feels like a Guardian product.
The next stops on our roadmap for the product will include completing WireGuard support to further tighten the tunnel’s security as well as achieving feature parity with our other applications.
